Transforming Data Collection and Data Standards: Improving Reporting in Financial Services
The Bank has been working with the FCA and industry in the last few years to identify the main issues for firms and regulators in the way data is currently collected. The aim is to improve the process, reduce cost and improve efficiency and quality. The work initially focused on the potential for improvement based on greater use of technology, but it soon became apparent that the scope for improvement was much wider – in particular improved data standards and definitions would initially bring the most benefit. Following publication by the Bank of the Transformation of Data Collection Discussion paper on 7 January 2020, there was extensive consultation with a wide range of interested parties which also confirmed the importance of consistent data standards and definitions across the range of data requirements. Having received over 60 written responses to the consultation paper and held a series of working group discussions with reporting firms and vendors, the Bank was able to publish a Data Transformation Plan on 23 Feb 2021 outlining the vision and next steps for this work.

Ethical Pitfalls in AI
Pressure to drive returns from investment in data has precipitated an explosion in the use of AI to generate profit. Regulation is likely to move too slowly for businesses that want to lead in the ethical use of AI, leaving them ill-equipped to address complex ethical issues stemming from this powerful technology. The EDM Council has led in the study and development of this emerging area of practice. This webinar will deal with the ethical pitfalls of deploying AI and how to avoid them. The speakers will cover real case studies from the painful lessons learned by organizations’ poor handling of ethical AI, as well as the business triumphs of others that have consciously championed ethical AI and made it central to their businesses.

You Need a Data Catalog. Do You Know Why?
The data catalog has become a popular discussion topic within data management and data governance circles. A data catalog is a central repository that contains metadata for describing data sets, how they are defined, and where to find them. TDWI research indicates that implementing a data catalog is a top priority among organizations we survey. The data catalog can also play an important part in the governance process. It provides features that help ensure data quality, compliance, and that trusted data is used for analysis. Without an in-depth knowledge of data and associated metadata, organizations cannot truly safeguard and govern their data. Join this webinar to learn more about the data catalog and its role in data governance efforts.
During this webinar, industry experts will cover:
Data management challenges and priorities
The modern data catalog: what it is and why it is important
The role of the modern data catalog in your data quality and governance programs
The kinds of information that should be in your data catalog and why
