Peter Serenita is the US Chief Data Officer for Scotiabank, responsible for defining and implementing a data management capability to improve data quality and leverage data for business enablement.
Prior to joining the Scotiabank, Peter was the Group Chief Data Officer and was responsible for the data management and analytics practices across all businesses and global functions at HSBC, focusing on improving data consistency across the firm. Previously, Peter was a 28-year veteran of JPMorgan having held several key positions in business and information technology including the role of Chief Data Officer of the Worldwide Securities division.
Mr. Serenita holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from New York University.
Adam leads Service Development within the AWS Worldwide Financial Services team. His team is focused on driving industry-specific product features catering to the specific use cases and workloads that financial services customers are moving and running in the cloud.
Prior to joining AWS, Adam spent over 20 years in financial services organizations, most recently running data product management for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Before that Adam worked on cloud initiatives at Nasdaq. Previous to that Adam ran the capital markets practice for Aite Group.
Adam is also a U.S. Army veteran (Desert Storm) and lives in Colorado.
Ari Marcus is a Managing Director in Citigroup’s Institutional Clients Group Operations and Technology, with over 20 years of experience in Finance.
Prior to joining Citi, Ari held senior reference data and program management positions at Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers.
Ari earned an MBA in Finance & Accounting from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a BA in International Relations from Colgate University.
John is currently an Executive Director of EDM at DTCC, responsible for Data Governance and EDM Program Management. While at DTCC he has held several data management related roles including responsibility for data administration, decision support, architecture and product management of master data.
John has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Boston College and worked as a software engineer and data base administrator for several firms before joining the DTCC in 1995.
John has more than 25 years of experience in trading, capital markets, financial technology, business management, software development, strategic partnerships and corporate start-ups. He is responsible for the strategic vision, overall management and business leadership of GoldenSource Corporation.
Prior to joining GoldenSource, John was President and CEO of Pivot, Inc., Hotspot FX, Inc., and was the CFO of OnExchange. He has also worked in a variety of senior positions with Cantor Fitzgerald/eSpeed and Citibank.
John serves as an outside board member and/or advisor to several private companies and is an adjunct professor at the Columbia University School of Public Policy.
Evren Eryurek, PhD is the leader of Data Analytics and Data Management portfolio of Google Cloud covering Streaming Analytics, Dataflow, Beam, Messaging (Pub/Sub & Confluent Kafka), Data Governance, Data Catalog & Discovery and Data Marketplace as the Director of Product Management.
He joined Google Cloud as the Technical Director in the CTO Office of Google Cloud leading Google Cloud and its efforts towards Industrial Enterprise Solutions. Google Cloud business established the CTO Office and is still building a team of the world’s foremost experts on cloud computing, analytics, AI and machine learning to work with global companies as trusted advisors and partners. Evren joined Google as the 1st external member to take a leadership role as a Technical Director within the CTO Office of Google Cloud.
Prior to joining Google, he was the SVP & Software Chief Technology Officer for GE Healthcare, near $20 billion segment of GE.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Evren holds a master’s and doctorate degree in Nuclear Engineering. Evren holds over 60 US patents and is author of the book titled “Data Governance: The Definitive Guide.”
Kate joined HSBC in September 2017 as Chief Data Architect and now leads the Data & Architecture Office (DAO). She is responsible for enabling the business to understand, anticipate, and meet customer needs through the effective use of data and the implementation of the right architecture.
Her vision is that all HSBC employees understand how data should inform strategy, design, and execution, because only then will customers truly experience the value of services delivered by a data-centric firm.
Kate holds an MBA degree with concentration in Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Franklin University (Columbus, Ohio, USA).
Søren brings over 25 years of Financial Markets experience in delivering mission critical transformational projects for financial institutions.
His responsibilities include complex transformations of financial institutions, Innovation in Financial Markets leveraging new technologies such as Cognitive, Quantum & Blockchain, and post-trade initiatives around reference data management, collateral management and OTC-derivatives processing.
Prior to re-joining IBM in 2013 Soren was Managing Director for SunGard Global Services in Europe developing and delivering service solutions around SunGard products working with several tier 1 European clients.
Having previously worked at financial organisations such as Morgan Stanley, Paribas Capital Market and HBOS Treasury, he brings a practitioner's view to the challenges faced by customers today. Søren has, since 2016, been an advisor to the Consultative Working Group of ESMA’s Financial Innovation Standing Committee (FISC) advising European Regulators on Technology & Innovation.
Julian is responsible for the delivery of data capability at M&G and supporting the Prudential business with the main areas of focus including Data Content Management, Valuations (c.£270bn), Market Data Services, Data Governance and Data Services.
He has been at M&G for 18 years undertaking a number of roles including Head of Front Office Operations and Global Market Data responsibilities. Julian has sponsored a number of key projects including developing Data Governance Policy and standards for both M&G and the Prudential globally; the implementation of a consolidated data sourcing and the implementation of systems to increasing efficiency and consistency of data across the organisation.
He has completed the M&G Cornerstone Leadership Program – Ashridge and Prudential Global Agility Leadership Program – Oxford Saïd Business School.
Raghu Ramakrishnan is CTO for Data, and a Technical Fellow at Microsoft.
Previously, he was a professor at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he wrote the widely used text “Database Management Systems” with Johannes Gehrke, and Chief Scientist at Yahoo!
He has received the Innovation Award from both ACM SIGMOD and SIGKDD, multiple 10-year paper awards, and the ACM SIGMOD Contributions Award.
Liezel McCord, a financial technology executive, joined Morgan Stanley in Febrary 2019 to improve the quality and management of the firm’s data through a new strategy.
Liezel works within the Data Center of Excellence to boost data innovation, security and efficiency of the bank’s businesses. She will help define principles and procedures for Morgan Stanley to manage its data and work on the creation and implementation a new firm-wide data policy.
Karen Hiers has over 20 years of practical experience on how to navigate an organization to find the right balance in technology, business processes, policies, and data management. Karen is responsible for championing data literacy, enabling end to end data management throughout the organization, driving delivery of data through a data modernization program, and developing high value insights and models using advanced analytics.
Karen started her career as the first official Data Steward at Capital One back in 2001. She has been a practitioner, pioneer, and champion of Data Management practices at Capital One, Citizens Bank, USAA, and now Northern Trust. Over the years she has gained vast experience establishing Data Management programs, growing best in class Data Governance teams, and reducing data risk through process management and control implementation.
Scott J. Preiss is Managing Director & Global Head, CUSIP Global Services / S&P Global Market Intelligence, which operates the CUSIP coding system and the CUSIP International Numbering System (CINS) for the United States, Canada, and various global territories under contract to the American Bankers Association.
Under Scott’s direction, CUSIP Global Services is responsible for the development and operation of the ANNA Service Bureau, a central hub for the consolidation and distribution of ISIN data from >120 global markets, and jointly operated with SixInformation, Zurich.
Scott has been actively involved in the industry’s effort to standardize legal entities, securities descriptive data and product classifications, and has chaired the ANSI-accredited standards group X9D in that regard.
Scott regularly lectures on standardization, reference data, regulation and risk management, both in the U.S. and globally. He has a BBA in Business/Finance from Pace University, NY, and a J.D. from New york Law School.
Christophe joined Swiss Bank Corporation in 1996 as product manager for electronic banking. In the 20 plus years with UBS, he has worked with Operations, HR & Technology, based in Basel, Zürich, NY, London and Singapore.
After returning from Singapore in 2012 (having built up the integrated service desks for application and end-user support), he became the Global Head of Operations IT within the newly formed Group Technology team. Christophe took on service line responsibility for data in April 2015.
Christophe was born in Belgium, but moved to Zurich to complete his studies in computer engineering in 1996. He enjoys gym, snowboarding, Muay Thai, spending time with family and travelling.
