Making your investment in ESG data pay off

How can you make your investment in ESG data pay off, whether for your regulatory commitments in this space or for future-proofing investments that must be green? While data is a core requirement in this process, reporting on it is insufficient on its own, and there’s also a lack of consistent or complete data providers.

We discuss these core concerns, along with considerations for data management and technology to address ESG challenges. All of this is with a view to being more proactive, sustainable and scalable so that you can more easily respond to changing and evolving regulatory and data requirements.

During this webinar, we will cover:

Using lineage to understand your ESG data
What you need to know about ‘The Big Green Short’
Why you should start reviewing your systems now – and how

Why a Streaming First Approach to Digital Modernization Matters

Organizations today are collecting more data than ever and depending on the IT architecture, it can live anywhere. With executives pushing to move to cloud and reimagine existing processes, it can be difficult for teams to answer the call and integrate data from all of their mission-critical systems. And, even if you can find a way to integrate the data, how do you know that data can be trusted and accurately represent what is happening in real-time?

Join the session to learn how to expand existing uses for data that already exists in your enterprise through a streaming first lens.

During this webinar, we will cover:

  • Current trends in streaming
  • The importance of data integration and governance in streaming
  • How to break down data silos by quickly building modern data pipelines that drive innovation

Using a Data Products Approach to Quantifying Financial Benefits of Data

Enlightened CDOs have the opportunity to grow market capitalization (publicly traded companies) or to drive incremental stakeholder alignment (non-public organizations) based on the hidden value of data. Intangibles make up more than 80% of the Enterprise Value of S&P 500 Companies. Traditional definitions of Intangibles include goodwill, customer lists and intellectual property BUT DO NOT include data. Join us to hear how forward-thinking CDOs are using data economics to drive quantifiable financial value for their organizations.

During this webinar, industry experts will cover:

  • Best practices to building a data products taxonomy
  • Mapping data products to current and potential sources of enterprise value
  • Approaches to quantifying financial benefits of data
  • Best practices to drive alignment between the CDO and CFO for a successful data monetization program
  • Use of publicly-available data sources to drive benchmarking
  • Constraints to data valuation given accounting standards such as GAAP
  • Importance of financial literacy within the data management community

WDP Webinar – Women on Boards: The Path to Boardroom Diversity

Currently only 19.7% women globally hold a board seat. This number has only increased by 2.8% since 2018.

This underrepresentation of women and the slow progress are a key focus area for many institutions worldwide. The European Union has agreed this year (2022) that companies will face mandatory quotas to ensure women have at a minimum 40% of seats on corporate boards.

Based on the ‘Deloitte Global Boardroom Program’s Women in the Boardroom’ report (7th edition was published in 2022 in cooperation with The 30% Club), near boardroom parity could be reached in 2045. But what is needed to accelerate this pace of change?

In this session, an expert panel will tackle these pressing questions:

  • What needs to change in the commitment to boardroom diversity?
  • Why is the progress so slow?
  • What are the regional differences and how are mandatory laws helping progress diversity?
  • How are industries differing in their female board representation?
  • What are beneficial factors in companies that help women transition to board members?
  • What are learnings from female board chairs?
  • What can women in leadership positions do and what needs to be done among the decision-makers?

Data Governance for Low Code Solutions

By now, we are all familiar with Microsoft’s Power Platform, the low code platform that democratizes programming for a new generation of business users, often called ‘makers.’ But with such wide-ranging access to data brings challenges, especially when it comes to governance. You need to ensure your data is safe and that the right people have access to it at the right time and are using the tools appropriately and responsibly.

If your organization uses Power Platform and is concerned about potential security and data implications, this webinar is for you. Presented jointly by the EDM Council and Hitachi Solutions, we’ll take a look at the fundamentals of a governance program, along with the guardrails and supports you can put in place so app makers have a safe place to create and innovate.

Join us to learn about:

  • Why Data Governance isn’t a bad word
  • Establishing a Team Strategy
  • Understanding the Infrastructure and Tenant
  • Setting Up Data Loss Prevention Policies
  • Automating Audit Processes
  • Building a Power Platform Center of Excellence

Modernizing Analytics Architectures with Data Mesh & Semantic Layer

The data mesh is a trending approach to building a decentralized data architecture by leveraging a domain-oriented, self-service design. For this approach to work, the semantic layer emerged as a fundamental concept to support data model sharing, collaboration, and ownership. You will learn how a semantic layer fits into a modern analytics architecture by understanding its relationship to the data mesh.

This session will explain how central data teams can define common models and definitions with a semantic layer, and allows users to browse the mesh of related data products.

Attend this session to learn about:

  • The role of a data mesh in the modern cloud architecture
  • A semantic layer as a binding agent for a data mesh
  • Building modern cloud architecture following modern paradigms

ESG Special Interest Group (SIG) Update

Join us for an update on the EDM Council’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) interest group. John Bottega (President) and Jim Halcomb (Head of Product Management) will discuss recent accomplishments and upcoming plans for the EDM Council’s collaborative work with industry to address current and future ESG challenges. WDP Group – Accelerate your journey to gender parity

Leading Financial Services organisations have recognised that a fundamental shift will be necessary to move the needle on gender representation. The pandemic has created opportunities and made existing challenges more acute, reshaping how and where we work while increasing the difficulty, especially for women, of balancing home and professional life. Our speaker Nishma Gosrani OBE, partner at Bain & Company co-authored an industry-first blueprint with practical recommendations and a toolkit of ideas on how to accelerate a journey to gender parity. The blueprint is based on interviews with leading FS CEOs, Bain analysis, academic research, cross-industry case studies and a survey of more than 100 signatories.

This webinar will dive into:

  • Recruitment, retention and promotion
  • Culture and behaviour
  • Embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
