Post-event summary
The webinar titled “AI-Ready Data: Transforming Projects into Production,” hosted by the EDM Council and Precisely, featured a dynamic and insightful discussion among industry experts:
- Antonio Cotroneo, Director, Product Marketing, Precisely
- Sanjeev Mohan, Principal, SanjMo
- Moderator: Eric Bigelsen, Head of Industry Engagement, EDM Council
The panel began by highlighting the necessity for organizations to assess their AI readiness amidst widespread investments in AI technologies. Eric underscored the varying stages of AI adoption, from exploring possibilities to scaling up solutions.
Antonio addressed common challenges, including data integration, quality, and governance. He stressed that while many enterprises invest in AI, they often lack AI-ready data, leading to issues like bias and inaccuracies in AI models. Antonio encapsulated the session’s theme with the statement, “Your data management investment is your AI investment,” emphasizing the vital link between robust data management practices and successful AI outcomes.
A poll revealed that many organizations felt their investment in data management was insufficient, underscoring its importance for AI success. Antonio outlined the need for comprehensive data integration, high data quality, and relevant data enrichment for effective AI initiatives.
Sanjeev shared field observations, noting that AI should augment existing processes rather than be treated as a separate technology stack. He advocated for a structured approach to data governance, involving the identification of business use cases, ROI estimation, and proper model selection and experimentation. Sanjeev also highlighted the importance of handling both structured and unstructured data effectively.
The webinar featured real-world examples, such as a real estate company in Italy using AI for community planning and development, and the healthcare industry’s use of AI in clinical trials and drug discovery. These examples illustrated the benefits of high data integrity and proper documentation.
The session concluded with a call for organizations to invest in comprehensive data management practices, align AI projects with business goals, and adopt an iterative approach to AI development. By following these guidelines, organizations can harness the full potential of AI technologies and achieve significant business benefits.
