Building Trusted Context Around Data

Join us for a members-only roundtable discussion on the banking industry this November!

As data moves through increasingly complex environments, financial institutions face a growing challenge: how do we maintain trusted context around data as it moves across systems, transformations, data products and emerging AI use cases?

Join us for a members-only Banking Roundtable exploring how organizations can preserve critical context about a data record — including its origin, history, quality, controls and intended use — connected and accessible throughout its lifecycle.

The session will introduce KPMG’s Data DNA concept as a starting point for a broader industry discussion. Together, participants will explore current approaches, common challenges, and whether shared principles could help financial institutions strengthen trust, transparency, and usability of data across increasingly complex environments.

Discussion topics will include:

  • The landscape of data provenance, lineage, lifecycle visibility, and trusted context across systems and use cases
  • Opportunities to eliminate lineage reconstruction and fragmented metadata aggregation
  • Guiding principles for evaluating and navigating potential solutions
  • Connecting data with quality, risk, and control information to support trusted, well-understood data products
  • The role of preserved data context in enabling AI, automated decision-making, and regulatory expectations (e.g., E-23)
  • How Data DNA complements other industry initiatives (e.g., DPROD, OriginTrail, ODRL)

This is intended to be a practical, peer-level and exploratory discussion, with an emphasis on member perspectives and real-world experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to share how their organizations are approaching these challenges today and help identify areas that may benefit from further industry collaboration.

This session is open exclusively to EDM Association members from the banking industry.
