The Data Ethics Fundamentals Course

This course (delivered virtually, over two 6 hour sessions) delves into the importance of data ethics in data management organizations and will identify basic ethical principles pertaining to data and describe how these arise from three general ethical frameworks. Participants will consider the Data Ethics implications of several case studies and current events in an interactive setting. Most importantly, participants will learn how to recognize the Data Ethics aspects of the DCAM framework for application in real-world situations. This course is a great fit for stewards of business data, information professionals seeking guidance in this emerging area, and professionals who have been asked to implement or participate in a data governance program. There are no formal prerequisites for this class—just a desire to learn about Data Ethics and a general understanding of data management principles.

    On completion of this course, you will be able to:

       -   Explain the importance of data ethics in data management & analytics organizations

       -   Consider the data ethics implications of several case studies and current events

       -   Recognize the data ethics aspects of the DCAM framework

       -   Describe five practical steps you can take to apply what you’ve learned

    There are no prerequisites for attending this training, and no pre-reading required to participate. Full documentation will be provided to all students. Certificate of accreditation and a digital badge will be issued following the training.

    Cancellation and Changes

    Cancellations received 2 weeks or more before the start of the course will be entitled to full refund. Cancellations received under two weeks before the start of the course will be given a credit for the next occurrence of the course. The credit may be transferred within the company.  The EDM Council reserves the right to cancel any class due to unforeseen circumstances.  In this event a full refund will be offered or the seat can be transferred to another course.
